The school established a Marimba Group in 2019. The Marimba Group was part of the Outreach Foundation Programme. It participated in the International Marimba Festival in Boksburg in South Africa in 2019. This festival hosted Marimba Groups from all over the world eg: Botswana, Swaziland, Namibia Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Australia and Canada, just to name a few. It was a great experience for the Phoenix Marimba Band to compete against other International Schools.
The group received recognition for individual performances. It was also invited to participate in the 2020 International Marimba Festival. Unfortunately the Covid pandemic prevented the festival from taking place. However, the group has been able to have virtual performances during lockdown. The vision of the Phoenix Marimba Band is to have its own local Marimba Festival with local schools.
