The athletics department participates in the Inner City Schools athletics competitions. There have been some outstanding performances from individual learners from Phoenix College.
- Mduduzi Ncube achieved provincial level qualification in triple jump and long jump.
- Bongani Ncube participated in the under 15s 100 metre sprint at provincial level.
- James Legodi and Litha Lugwali participated in the 4800metres at provincial level and numerous cross-country tournaments.
The covid 19 lockdown in 2020, meant that athletic events could not continue as planned.
