This is a very popular sport that attracts a lot of learners. Soccer promotes physical and mental fitness, in conjunction with teamwork, discipline and general sportsmanship.
Latest Updates
The under 19 boys’ soccer team has been shining for the past three years as they have been representing the Inner City cluster.
They have also participated and excelled in tournaments, e.g. notably the Coca Cola tournament were learners like Nigel Phillimon were chosen to be part of the Wits Junior soccer team. Below are some of the sporting disciplines that we offer to our students.
Age groups
Our Under 11 and 13 boys’ soccer teams participate in two tournaments every year. These are the Gauteng Provincial Winter Games Championships, and the Johannesburg Inner City Cluster League.
Cluster winners proceed to the District knockouts, and if they succeed there, go on to play in the Gauteng Winter Games Soccer Championships, representing the district, cluster, and of course their school.
Achievements
In 2018 our Under 13 boys’ team came first in our Cluster League games, scooping gold medals and a beautiful trophy. In 2019 both our Under 11 and 13 boys soccer teams came first in the Winter Games cluster knockouts. They proceeded to the District knockouts where they again excelled, winning gold medals and trophies.
They went on to represent the district at the Gauteng Winter Games Provincial Championships preliminary knockouts where they both came second but could not play in the finals. This was the greatest achievement the school has ever made in soccer.
